Word of the Day

for·fend /fɔrˈfɛnd/ –verb (used with object)
1. to defend, secure, or protect.
2. to fend off, avert, or prevent.
3. Archaic. Forbid.

We certainly don't hear this word enough in every day language. As in "heaven forfend". Sadly the word "forfend" seems to be going the way of the "flivver". (which is the only type of car that GLH heriones drive - if they are poor - and they usually are)

I challenge you (and myself) to use the word "forfend" in a casual conversation this week.
