Saturday: It was sunny enough, in the morning, to get a wee bit of gardening done...and then the rains descended...again. I spent much of the day helping Danny with his history class and painting. Painting what? You'll see (maybe today).
Sunday: Alex gave his first 'farewell' talk in church. Next week he'll be giving another one (in the singles branch). He still doesn't know what the topic is supposed to be on, but hopes to be able to re-use some of yesterday's talk - after all, the audience will be completely different.
Steve hadn't ever heard of pear tomatoes. At least, that's what he claimed. I had fond memories of eating them as a child. When I saw the plant at the nursery a couple of months ago, I knew I had to have it. They have just starting ripening...I think we'll just eat them straight off the vine. The pear tomatoes are less acidic than their red cousins...and they don't squirt when you bite into them, like cherry tomatoes. Yum.
It'll probably be another hour or so until we have soil in the new garden area - but it will be getting a little dark by then, so I thought I'd take a picture now.
This morning Steve and I went over to help out at Stephanie and Cory's place. Steve and Cory removed the lower kitchen cabinets and moved two light fixtures. I painted the bathroom. Stephanie sanded the panelling in the back bedroom and weeded the front flower beds. Then we came home so that Steve could try and get the garden finished.
Speaking of roots. My radishes are sprouting. Too bad I don't really like radishes. They may be the only thing that comes up.
